Airlie Gardens

Airlie Gardens (67 acres) is a public garden in Wilmington, North Carolina.

It were created in 1901 as a private garden, for the Pembroke Jones family by Mrs. Jones, as a lush, flowing, naturalistic Southern garden, with thousands of azaleas, camellias, magnolias, and wisteria. In 1999, it was purchased by New Hanover County and is open Tuesday through Sunday for an admission fee

African-American folk artist Minnie Evans was the Airlie Gardens gatekeeper for a number of years.
